What is dokha?

Dokha is 100% pure, additive free, natural Arabian pipe tobacco made of dried and finely cut tobacco flakes. The Arabic word dokha means dizziness or buzz due to headrush while smoking. Due to its higher concentration of nicotine compared to other forms of tobacco it can cause brief periods of euphoria or relaxation in some users. It is usually smoked through a wooden pipe called medwakh.

History of Dokha Tobacco

It originated in Northern Iran in 15th century and spread among sailors in the Caspian Sea. Dokha tobacco was perfect way of smoking out at sea. Later on in the history this type of pipe tobacco became very popular tobacco in Ottoman Empire. It was widely smoked there and they attempted many times to ban and outlaw the smoking of tobacco in Ottoman Empire. The attempt ironically ended up making the smoking of dokha more popular in the Middle East.

Arabic pipe tobacco has been one of the most popular products for about 500 years in Middle Eastern countries. It was reportedly spread to other parts of the world via tourism, trade and immigration.

The tobacco is grown in a number of countries within Middle East. Arid fields in mountainous areas of the United Arab Emirates and Oman are the main regions where the tobacco is grown.

The question how it is possible to grow plants in arid areas of desert is quite logical. Specialists and local farmers of dokha plants have knowledge and techniques of how to delicately take care of high yielding tobacco plants. Growing this type of tobacco requires very close attention. Tobacco field should be cleaned of any pets or vegetation to maintain the quality of leaves while using no chemicals at all. To harvest quality leaves for dokha requires a great amount of sun, clean and dry air that are all available in mountainous desert areas.

What are the ingredients?

Dokha was traditionally mixed with tobacco leaves, herbs, spices, dried flowers and fruits in some countries. In modern days dokha remain traditional pipe tobacco without any additives and preservatives. You can be sure that Turbo Dokha has nothing added to enhance the natural color of original Arabic tobacco.

Bin Khumery is the company who is committed to implement only natural way of producing dokha tobacco. Our product is pure, natural and original leaf Arabic tobacco. We farm our tobacco in a timely delicate manner to preserve the content of the tobacco with no machinery involved. And, we manufacture it without any additives or chemicals used. Unlike most tobaccos, Dokha is not fire cured and cut, but dried in the arid desert region where it came from.

Traditional dokha and modern blend flavored dokha are the popular products in our days. However, flavor added tobacco might not be legal in some countries around the world. However, flavor added tobacco is legal in many countries. Due to many requests from our customers we brought the flavor option to meet their preferences and expectation.

What are the effects?

Our dokha gives a smoker a pleasant experience of smoking. It produces relaxing headrush depending on the blend of the tobacco you choose. There are number of available tobacco strengths typically described as “hot”, “warm” or “cold”, in other words “light”, “medium” or “hot”. They indicate the harshness of a particular blend but not the level of buzz, for instance cold dokha may produce stronger buzz than hot one.

When compared with other tobacco products, most smokers of dokha tobacco are attracted by its unique attributes and satisfactory buzz that the smoker receives as well as natural flavor versus cigarettes, rolling tobacco and other pipe tobaccos.

Approximately 0.5-1 grams of dokha tobacco is smoked at a time. It is usually consumed in about two to three inhalations. Based on feedback and surveys held among dokha smokers we can estimate that the typical daily user of this tobacco consumes approximately 6 grams, or 12 smoking sessions.

The buzz that you experience when smoking Dokha tobacco is caused by the nicotine in the leaf. The length of the buzz changes from person to person. Usually it will last between 10 seconds – 1 minute depending on the user’s nicotine tolerance. We can’t say whether smoking Dokha is a healthier option or not. However, we have learned that a large number of our customers decided to exclusively smoke Dokha as they believe the intake of smoke is less with Dokha as opposed to smoking a cigarette.

Why choose Dokha?

Smoking dokha tobacco does not require a long time. Smoking the tobacco takes about ten to fifteen seconds which gives a very quick and immediate rush. All you have to do is to fill up your pipe and make three to five puffs and buzz runs through your body before you can carry on with your day.

Smoking this pipe tobacco first thing in the morning tends to produce more buzz since the nicotine tolerance in the body is low when you wake up. The entire body will have the feeling of ultimate relaxation when smoking it straight after you wake up.

Dokha is also cheaper compared with other types of tobaccos besides being convenient to use. Using 50 ml bottle of this tobacco will approximately be enough for 100 to 115 smoking sessions. For a regular smoker it is enough for one week or more.

Individuals who smoke Arabic tobacco noticed several advantages over other tobacco products besides strong and pleasant buzz throughout the history of this tobacco. Because of the small amount of smoke being free from any kind of chemicals and additives, the smell of the tobacco will not stick to any fabric or clothes. There is no residual smell left behind when you smoke Dokha. Unlike most western tobacco products, no tobacco smell clings to your hair or clothes. The smell of this pipe tobacco is generally inoffensive to non-smokers.

Medwakh is interesting and unique pipe, without doubt. It looks very special to smoke dokha through medwakh. People like the process of filling medwakh, smoking dokha with their unique pipe and carry all this in a nice pouch bag.
